Brooks, Cleanth

Pronunciation: /brʊks/
(1906–94), American teacher and critic. A leading proponent of the New Criticism movement, he edited The Southern Review (1935–42) and taught at Yale University (1947–75). Notable works: Modern Poetry and Tradition (1939).
