Brown, James

(1928–2006), American soul and funk singer and songwriter. In the 1960s he played a leading role in the development of funk with songs such as ‘Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag’ (1965) and ‘Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine’ (1970).
