Burr, Aaron

Pronunciation: /bəː/
(1756–1836), American Democratic Republican statesman. In 1804, while vice president, he killed his rival Alexander Hamilton in a duel. He then plotted to form an independent administration in Mexico and was tried for treason but acquitted.
