Caldwell, Erskine

Pronunciation: /ˈkɔːldwɛl/
(1903–87), American novelist and short-story writer; full name Erskine Preston Caldwell. Caldwell reproduced the dialect of the poor whites in his realistic, earthy, and popular novels, such as Tobacco Road (1932).
