Carson, Rachel

Pronunciation: /ˈkɑːs(ə)n/
(1907–64), American zoologist, a pioneer ecologist and popularizer of science; full name Rachel Louise Carson. She is noted especially for The Sea Around Us (1951) and Silent Spring (1963), an attack on the indiscriminate use of pesticides.
