Conservative Party

noun

A political party promoting free enterprise and private ownership, in particular a major British party that since the Second World War has been in power 1951–64, 1970-4, 1979–97, and since 2010 (2010–15 in coalition with the Liberal Democrats). It emerged from the old Tory Party under Sir Robert Peel in the 1830s and 1840s.
