Ctesiphon

Pronunciation: /ˈtɛsɪf(ə)n/
An ancient city on the Tigris near Baghdad, capital of the Parthian kingdom from circa 224 and then of Persia under the Sassanian dynasty. It was taken by the Arabs in 636 and destroyed in the 8th century.
