Culbertson, Ely

Pronunciation: /ˈkʌlbəts(ə)n/
(1891–1955), American bridge player. An authority on contract bridge, he revolutionized the game by formalizing a system of bidding. This helped to establish this form of the game in preference to auction bridge.
