du Pré, Jacqueline

Pronunciation: /d(j)uː ˈpreɪ/
(1945–87), English cellist. She made her solo debut at the age of 16 and became famous for her interpretations of cello concertos. Her performing career was halted in 1972 by multiple sclerosis.
