Fauré, Gabriel

(1845–1924), French composer and organist; full name Gabriel Urbain Fauré. His best-known work is the Requiem (1887) for solo voices, choir, and orchestra; he also wrote songs, piano pieces, chamber music, and incidental music for the theatre.
