Francis of Sales, St

Pronunciation: /sɑːl/
(1567–1622), French bishop. One of the leaders of the Counter-Reformation, he was bishop of Geneva 1602–22. The Salesian order (founded in 1859) is named after him. Feast day, 24 January.
