Ginsberg, Allen

Pronunciation: /ˈɡɪnzbəːɡ/
(1926–97), American poet. A leading poet of the beat generation, and later influential in the hippy movement of the 1960s, he is notable for Howl and Other Poems (1956), in which he attacked American society for its materialism and complacency.
