Gramsci, Antonio

Pronunciation: /ˈɡramʃi/
(1891–1937), Italian political theorist and activist, co-founder and leader of the Italian Communist Party. Imprisoned in 1926 when the Fascists banned the Communist Party, he died shortly after his release. Letters from Prison (1947) remains an important work.
