Harris, Sir Arthur Travers

Pronunciation: /ˈharɪs/
(1892–1984), British Marshal of the RAF; known as Bomber Harris. As Commander-in-Chief of Bomber Command (1942-5) in the Second World War he organized mass bombing raids against German towns which resulted in large-scale civilian casualties.
