Husák, Gustáv

Pronunciation: /ˈhuːsak/
(1913–91), Czechoslovak statesman, leader of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia 1969–87 and president 1975–89. He succeeded Alexander Dubček following the Prague Spring of 1968 and purged the party of its reformist elements.
