Jolson, Al

Pronunciation: /ˈdʒəʊls(ə)n/
(1886–1950), Russian-born American singer, film actor, and comedian; born Asa Yoelson. He made the Gershwin song ‘Swanee’ his trademark, and appeared in the first full-length talking film, The Jazz Singer (1927).
