Joplin, Scott

Pronunciation: /ˈdʒɒplɪn/
(1868–1917), American pianist and composer. He was the first of the creators of ragtime to write down his compositions. Notable compositions: ‘Maple Leaf Rag’ (1899), ‘The Entertainer’ (1902), and ‘Gladiolus Rag’ (1907).
