A parasitic nematode worm which infests the kidneys of mammals.
- Several species in the class Phasmida, in particular Stephanurus dentatus (in pigs) and the large Dioctophyma renale (in humans and other mammals).
- The kidney worm is blood-red in colour and is one of the largest of the parasitic roundworms.
- A mixed-breed dog in Thunder Bay recently had a very close call with giant kidney worms, including one found in its belly stretching 116 centimetres long.
