Linacre, Thomas

Pronunciation: /ˈlɪnəkə/
(Circa 1460–1524), English physician and classical scholar. In 1518 he founded the College of Physicians in London, and became its first president. He translated Galen’s Greek works on medicine and philosophy into Latin, reviving studies in anatomy, botany, and clinical medicine in Britain.
