Lipchitz, Jacques

Pronunciation: /ˈlɪpʃɪts/
(1891–1973), Lithuanian-born French sculptor; born Chaim Jacob Lipchitz. After producing cubist works such as Sailor with a Guitar (1914), he explored the interpenetration of solids and voids in his series of ‘transparentsculptures of the 1920s.
