noun (plural lories)

A small Australasian and SE Asian parrot with a brush-tipped tongue for feeding on nectar and pollen, having mainly green plumage with patches of bright colour. Called lorikeet in Australia.
  • Family Loridae (or Psittacidae): several genera and species, e.g. the brightly coloured rainbow lory or rainbow lorikeet (Trichoglossus haematodus)
