MacDiarmid, Hugh

Pronunciation: /məkˈdəːmɪd/
(1892–1978), Scottish poet and nationalist; pseudonym of Christopher Murray Grieve. The language of his poems drew on the language of various regions of Scotland and historical periods. He was a founder member (1928) of the National Party of Scotland (later the Scottish National Party).
