Mahfouz, Naguib

Pronunciation: /mɑːˈfuːz/
(1911–2006), Egyptian novelist and short-story writer. He was the first writer in Arabic to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature (1988). Notable works: Miramar (novel, 1967).
