Mazar-e-Sharif

Pronunciation: /maˌzɑːriːʃəˈriːf/
A city in northern Afghanistan; population 300,600 (est. 2006). The city, whose name means ‘tomb of the saint’, is the reputed burial place of Ali, son-in-law of Muhammad.
