Meiji Tenno

Pronunciation: /ˌmeɪdʒi ˈtɛnəʊ/
(1852–1912), emperor of Japan 1868–1912; born Mutsuhito. He took the name Meiji Tenno when he became emperor. He encouraged Japan’s modernization and political reform.
