Mencius

Pronunciation: /ˈmɛnʃɪəs/
1 (Circa 371-circa 289 bc), Chinese philosopher; Latinized name of Meng-tzu or Mengzi (‘Meng the Master’). Noted for developing Confucianism, he believed that rulers should provide for the welfare of the people and that human nature is intrinsically good.
