Mingus, Charles

Pronunciation: /ˈmɪŋɡəs/
(1922–79), American jazz bassist and composer. A leading figure of the 1940s jazz scene, he experimented with atonality and was influenced by gospel and blues. His compositions include ‘Goodbye Porkpie Hat’.
