Morrison, Toni

Pronunciation: /ˈmɒrɪs(ə)n/
(B.1931), American novelist; full name Chloe Anthony Morrison. Her novels depict the black American experience and heritage. Beloved (1987) won the Pulitzer Prize, and Morrison became the first black woman writer to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1993.
