Oppenheimer, Julius Robert

Pronunciation: /ˈɒp(ə)nˌhʌɪmə/
(1904–67), American theoretical physicist. He was director of the laboratory at Los Alamos during the development of the first atom bomb, but opposed the development of the hydrogen bomb after the Second World War.
