Owen, Sir Richard

Pronunciation: /ˈəʊɪn/
(1804–92), English anatomist and palaeontologist. Owen made important contributions to evolution, taxonomy, and palaeontology and coined the word dinosaur in 1841. He was a strong opponent of Darwinism.
