Phidias

Pronunciation: /ˈfɪdɪas/
/ˈfʌɪdɪas/
(5th century bc), Athenian sculptor. He directed the carving of the Elgin Marbles and other sculptures at the Parthenon (447–432 bc); he is noted also for his vast statue of Zeus at Olympia (circa 430), which was one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
