Piaf, Edith

Pronunciation: /ˈpiːaf/
(1915–63), French singer; born Edith Giovanna Gassion. She became known as a cabaret and music-hall singer in the late 1930s. Her songs included ‘La Vie en rose’ and ‘Je ne regrette rien’.
