A common edible Eurasian mushroom which is white and covered with a slimy fluid, growing on beech trees. Also called poached egg fungus.
- Oudemansiella mucida, family Tricholomataceae, class Hymenomycetes.
- Another fungus which grows in clusters on tree trunks has the promising name of poached egg fungus (or porcelain fungus) because of its glistening translucent white cap, which may have a hint of yellow in the centre.
