Rabin, Yitzhak

Pronunciation: /rəˈbiːn/
(1922–95), Israeli statesman and military leader, prime minister 1974-7 and 1992-5. In 1993 he negotiated a PLO-Israeli peace accord with Yasser Arafat, for which he shared the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize with Arafat and Shimon Peres. He was assassinated by a Jewish extremist.
