A court order authorizing an official receiver to act in a case of bankruptcy (since 1986 superseded by a bankruptcy order).
Example sentences
  • The position prior to the making of the receiving order was that Mr Stone had been ordered to pay maintenance to Mrs Stone and to pay the mortgage instalments and other outgoings on the house.
  • On 11th February 1986 a receiving order was made against him.
