Pronunciation: /ˌrɛdʒɪəʊ diː kəˈlabrɪə/
A port at the southern tip of the ‘toe’ of Italy, on the Strait of Messina; population 185,621 (2008). The original settlement was founded about 720 bc by Greek colonists as Rhegion (Latin Rhegium).
