- Cercopithecus mitis, family Cercopithecidae. Alternative name: diademed monkey
- Samangos live in troops of 12 to 20 (but up to 30) usually comprising an adult male, six to eight females and an assortment of juveniles.
- Vervets and Samangos are territorial. Vervets have an exclusive area which is actively defended. Samangos have a core area which they defend and areas which they utilise, but do not defend.
