San Martín, José de

Pronunciation: /mɑːˈtiːn/
(1778–1850), Argentinian soldier and statesman. Having assisted in the liberation of his country from Spanish rule (1812–13), he went on to aid in the liberation of Chile (1817–18) and Peru (1820-4).
