Sargon II

Pronunciation: /ˈsɑːɡɒn/
(D.705 bc), king of Assyria 721–705 bc, probably a son of Tiglath-pileser III. He is famous for his conquest of cities in Syria and Palestine; he also took ten of the tribes of Israel into captivity in Assyria (see Lost Tribes).
