The upper bony passage of the cochlea.
- Vibrations of the oval window are transmitted to the perilymph in the scala vestibuli and across the vestibular membrane to the endolymph of the cochlear duct.
- Since it is confluent with the perilymph around the rest of the vestibular apparatus, this compartment is called the scala vestibuli.
