Schubert, Franz

Pronunciation: /ˈʃuːbət/
(1797–1828), Austrian composer. His music is associated with the romantic movement for its lyricism and emotional intensity, but belongs in formal terms to the classical age. His works include more than 600 songs, the ‘Trout’ piano quintet (1819), and nine symphonies.
