Solti, Sir Georg

Pronunciation: /ˈʃɒlti/
(1912–97), Hungarian-born British conductor. He revivified Covent Garden as musical director (1961–71) and was conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (1969–91) and the London Philharmonic Orchestra (1979–83).
