A period of fine weather around 18 October (the saint’s feast day).
- A little discussion arose as to whether this was the "Indian summer," or, as we call the return of warm bright days in autumn, "St. Luke's summer".
- Apparently, if good weather lasts into September and October then we have a "St. Luke's Summer"; hence the expression "lukewarm".
