Stara Zagora

Pronunciation: /ˌstɑːrə zəˈɡɔːrə/
A city in east central Bulgaria; population 140,710 (2008). It was held by the Turks from 1370 until 1877, when it was destroyed by them during the Russo-Turkish War. It has since been rebuilt as a modern planned city.
