Definition of up-bow in English:
(On a stringed instrument) a stroke begun with the tip of the bow and proceeding toward the base. Compare with down-bow.
- His bow technique is very sound, and his up-bows are especially elegant.
- If you were to use all single bow strokes, you would start with an up-bow on the first quarter note.
- The down-bow and up-bow should be seen and felt as almost one, unending movement.
