Wheatstone, Sir Charles

Pronunciation: /ˈwiːtstən/
(1802–75), English physicist and inventor. He is best known for his electrical inventions which included an electric clock, the Wheatstone bridge, the rheostat, and with Sir W. F. Cooke, the electric telegraph.
