Wyatt, Sir Thomas

Pronunciation: /ˈwʌɪət/
(1503–42), English poet. He went to Italy (1527) as a diplomat in the service of Henry VIII; this visit probably stimulated his translation of Petrarch. His work also includes sonnets, rondeaux, songs for the lute, and satires.
