Your questions answered ...
What has changed?
-
We’ve added a much bigger, more up-to-date free dictionary for you to use - you’ll find over 350,000 definitions and entries, covering current English as it is used all over the world
-
We’ve also updated our Better writing section, so you’ll be able to find practical help with grammar, punctuation, spelling, and usage more easily
-
We've added new interactive language features (see an example)
-
There is now also a subscriber version of the site available, with added extras never before available on AskOxford or any other site. Find out more about the subscriber site
Why did you change AskOxford?

The site is set to World English. How do I change it to US English? (or vice versa)
There is a US version and a World version of the site (what’s the difference?). You can change the version you’re using by going to the home page and clicking on US English or World English in the top right hand corner.
I had a bookmark and I can’t find it. Help!
The site structure has changed quite a bit. If you had some favourite content bookmarked, try searching by keyword in the search box in the top right corner. Remember to select 'Other language resources' so that you're searching the extra content and not the dictionary. If you still can’t find it, please email us and we’ll try to help.
I'm more interested in information on languages other than English...
Visit our modern language dictionaries site, Oxford Language Dictionaries Online, to find many of the free French, German, Spanish, and Italian resources that were available on AskOxford - plus Chinese and Russian resources.
