Cultural Note: Kindergarten

Every German pre-school child has the right to attend Kindergarten (nursery or play school) between the ages of three and six. Kindergarten concentrates on play, crafts, singing, etc., and aims to foster the child's social and emotional development. There is no formal teaching at all, this being reserved for the Grundschule
