( 1905–91), US baseball player and manager; full name Leo Ernest Durocher. After playing shortstop in the major leagues from 1925 to 1945, he managed the Brooklyn Dodgers 1939–46, 1948, New York Giants 1948–55, Chicago Cubs 1966–72, and Houston Astros 1972–73. His cantankerous manner earned him the nickname The Lip. Baseball Hall of Fame (1994).
